Since opening in 2004, Vagabond Lodge has been welcoming adventurers, skiers, and travellers from around the world to the heart of the Canadian Rockies.
Located just steps from the gondola at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, the lodge was inspired by the Vagabond Club in Leysin, Switzerland. The Chilibeck family set out to create more than just a place to stay—they wanted a warm and welcoming mountain lodge where guests could feel at home while exploring one of British Columbia's most spectacular outdoor destinations.
In 2024, manager Kim took on the next chapter of the lodge, continuing its tradition of genuine hospitality, sustainability, good food, and creating memorable experiences for guests.
Today, Vagabond Lodge accommodates up to 24 guests and offers a more personal alternative to large hotels and busy resorts. Whether you're visiting for world-class skiing, backcountry adventures, hiking, rafting, or simply a chance to slow down and reconnect with nature, the lodge aims to be your basecamp.
What makes Vagabond Lodge special is often the little things. Guests are welcomed with homemade afternoon baking, invited to join our popular cheese and wine evenings, and encouraged to share stories from the day's adventures around the fire. During the festive season, the lodge takes on an especially magical atmosphere, with a warm, friendly feel that brings people together.
Golden itself is one of British Columbia's hidden gems. With incredible outdoor adventures, fantastic local restaurants and cafés, and a relaxed mountain-town atmosphere, it offers everything visitors love about the Rockies without the crowds of larger resort destinations.
